Laguna WIP for RachelI’m not very happy with his nose, so I’ve got some major changes to make to him tonight. This was mostly just to get a feel for the character. When doing fanart, I generally sketch the character 2 ~ 3 times before I try to make a full illustration.Coloring is more fun than sketching these days (okay, when is it not?) so it’s going to be a slow process! I wanted to include my process with this picture, without sharing some horribly ugly sketches. I have now decided to combine the sketching style I discovered in the beginning of summer with my new coloring style. The result is something that I feel very happy with. 
Please give me critique if you feel there is something I could work on. As I so often say, “Complaints become action —— action becomes improvement.”

I’m thinking about making a separate blog for my sketches. 

And look at that! I finally did make a separate blog!I&#8217;m so pleased with how this looks&#8230; It&#8217;s one of the first times when I&#8217;ve gazed upon something I&#8217;ve created and the only words that come to mind are &#8220;beautiful.&#8221;I remember texting Jon after I drew this, telling him that I was the &#8220;BEST ARTIST EVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERERERERERE&#8221; hahaha! It made me feel so confident that I could make something like this. I just keep getting better, too. I want to be confident about all of my work &#8212; I promise I&#8217;m getting close.

I’m so pleased with how this looks… It’s one of the first times when I’ve gazed upon something I’ve created and the only words that come to mind are “beautiful.”

So, this is a piece that I did for an AU that Kayla has created. It was definitely an experiment in things I don’t normally draw — not that I don’t draw figures and drapery but the shapes were new and I tried to blend a muted pallet with dynamic shading. 
Her costume is one of my favorite things right now. I want to draw hijab on everything now. I owe my inspiration for that to Nami who teaches me about her faith whenever I ask. I am so thankful for that <3  

I broke away from black lines completely in this one. It was.. so.. hard. I can&#8217;t tell you how much time I spent on this. It had to be over a week. I still see places where I can fix it, but it&#8217;s the determination to improve that keeps me making steps toward a style I can be happy with.One thing I want to touch on is&#8230; so many people have told me that they wish they had my talent, I find myself thinking that sometimes, but the most important thing you need to remember about art is:  When you see great art, don&#8217;t stop. So one day&#8230; I sat down and tried to step away from comic/anime/manga style. It&#8217;s a slow process, but this really helped finding my pallet. In the near future, I&#8217;m going to make a tutorial about speed paint and how my style has evolved by sometimes forcing myself away from a lot of black lines.

It kept growing and growing &lt;3 This was just a month ago and I still feel proud of it. If I could improve anything it would be to move away from the comic-style and move into my own style. I&#8217;m still working on that.
